Johnny Damon signed a $52 million dollar contract with the New York Yankees on Dec. 20th 2005. Johnny Damon had some issues after signing his contract with the New York Yankees. The New York Yankees have a strict dress code forbidding long hair and facial hair. This was a problem since Johnny Damon had long hair and a beard. He had to get over it and cut his hair and beard on Dec. 22nd. The Johnny Damon Jersey would not sell so good if his longhair always covered up his name on the back.

Damon was announced part of the United States team in the World Baseball Classic on January 16, 2006. The WBC will begin play on March 3, 2006 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan.
